There’s an app for that: Tabata Timer for HIIT
The last blog entry covered what HIIT is and how you can use it in your own workouts. One thing missing though: a timer that you can set and leave for your workout! No more bathing out your stopwatch with this one.
I found the Tabata Timer for HIIT by the company Simple Vision for my Android phone, and I really, really like it. It has easy to set time sections, legible buttons, and you can play your own music while using it. Here’s what the active screen looks like:

You can set each section:
- the time it takes for you to get into position for your first exercise/break between sets
- the break time in between each exercise
- how often you want those two sections to repeat
- how many total HIIT sets you want to do
Here’s the setup screen:

It looks like there is weight management tracking and other little notekeeping sections useful for health tracking. They aren’t paying me for this post; I found it, like it, and hope you find it useful as well!
